Quick and Simple Home Accent Ideas
We have all been to that room or house that is just… meh. Not at all interesting and honestly, just plain boring. Does this sound like you?
Here are SIX quick and easy ways to add some interest and pizzazz to your living space!

1. Pillows
Most furniture these days is very plain and solid. Unless you inherited aunt Sally’s floral sofa, or you special ordered a hot pink loveseat, you are working with considerably basic, neutral furniture. Which is great for the most part! It goes in most rooms and color schemes, but on its own can look boring. A quick fix for this is just adding some fun throw pillows! Either patterned, or colored, or both! Just make sure the color you choose accents the rest of the room. 😊
2. Accent Wall
When you look at most rooms the walls are normally painted the same color. But if your room is needing something more, accent walls can be a beautiful option! Whether that’s painting it a romantic dark blue, putting up a wall of stained shiplap, or picking a trendy wallpaper!
3. Area Rug
Area rugs are a great way to add warmth and texture to a room. If you have an open concept home, area rugs are a great way to help separate the spaces. With rugs, there are so many to choose from as well! Whether it’s warm and shaggy, or a patterned handmade Egyptian rug.
4. Throw
Adding a throw is such an easy simple solution, but sometimes it is all you need. Draping an accent throw over your sofa or bed is such a beautiful, clean, and cozy way to add some depth to your room.
5. Plants
Whether you have a green thumb or not, adding simple potted greenery around the room helps add depth to any space. Go for indoor plants or fake plants depending on the level of commitment you are looking for. I personally love succulents because they are low maintenance and inexpensive.
6. Art and Mirrors
There is so many affordable options for artistic focal points, such as light weight canvas prints and metal art, there is really no excuse for completely blank walls. Mirrors are a great option because they reflect light around the room and make spaces feel larger. Make sure that whatever you choose, it is the appropriate scale for the space. Also, don’t feel the need to fill EVERY wall. Pick a focal point and focus on that.
These are just a few of the ways I’ve found can really liven up a room! And the wonderful thing about these solutions, is that they can easily be changed in a year or two or 7 if you want to switch it up again! 😊
